The start of Betty’s career as a self-taught weaver began in 1975, weaving rag rugs using recycled clothing. After a while she began to weave overshot coverlets using patterns from the 19th century. In 1985, with her first tapestry loom, she began making pitcure-weavings using recycled yarns and fabrics and framed with grapevines. Betty’s products have evolved to include ponchos, saddle blankets, tablecloths, napkins, placemats, towels, purses, dollhouse rugs, afghans, exercise mats and specialty items.
Paintings in oil have recently become an active part of her art career. Betty has won the Brown County Art league novice show with a first place and best of show for her painting of a running horse and a honorable mention for the painting of Lewis Lake north of Helmsburg Indiana.
